Windows XP has been around for long enough that its appearance has become a bit stale. The default theme used by this operating system makes the computer look highly colorful and somewhat hard to take seriously. The "Classic" theme resembles Windows 98 and uses subdued grays for most of its UI elements. The two are quite widely different, which causes many users to look for something in between. They call for something that is classy, but not as gaudy as the default theme. The Royale Remixed Theme, drawing inspiration from the Zune MP3 player interface from Microsoft, aims to do just that.
With a focus on dark shades of blue, gray and some shiny black accents, Royale Remixed Theme manages to be attractive and unique without coming across as "tacky." It is a more polished and complete version of the old "Zune Theme" that many theme enthusiasts have likely tried out in the past.
The Royale Remixed Theme is designed for any Microsoft Windows operating system that supports the "Themes" service. This service is available in most versions, with the exception of "Windows 7 Starter Edition." This version is only intended for testing out Windows 7's functionality and offers only limited visual modifications.
It is important to note that many users have reported some complexity to the installation process. The theme may not work properly until you have patched one or more DLL files. The process is explained in the included text file. However, less advanced users might find this task to be rather daunting, especially if they are not especially familiar with what function these DLL files perform.
Royale Remixed Theme was conceived and designed by OddBasket on DeviantART. Its latest version is 1.47.
